This was supposed to be a concept but ended up being a mattepaint. My biggest problem with mattepaints is my lack of patience and TIME. This one could use at least another week of tweaking and adjusting, but I just had to move on with other stuff... Once again I had been browsing Dylans LoTR gallery, as surprising as that may be...
Only four more days until I go back to Sweden for the holidays. Man I can't wait!
Cheers!
EDIT: Here's the plate (and it was already beautiful to begin with!) [link]
Beautiful. I thought there was something very familiar about this. Then I realised it was actually Milford Sound. A few months ago, I climbed up to that exposed ridge on Mitre Peak. It's called The Notch. (The thin spine running along top of the big exposed rock face - the one just above the highest structure in your painting). It was a terrifying drop, yet one of the best views I've seen. And you've captured the grandeur of the sound perfectly. Really nice work.
Simplicity is the hallmark of this piece. The minimal amount of details really makes the ones you do put in ,like the passage of the thunderstorm, really stand out! Amazing work...I really, really love the lone bolt of lighting. Great work!
I love it. ^^
